HIPAA Safe Harbor–compliant convert on the clinic computer. Identifiers come off there. A named person signs. Only the remainder is sent.
Convert meets 45 CFR 164.514(b)(2). That is HIPAA compliant in the ordinary sense of the text. OCR does not sell a product seal.
Public and synthetic identifiers were used only to tighten convert. We do not sell extracted data or keep a patient map.
What a medical director needs to know
You do not need a BAA, an EHR write-back, or a six-month IT project to start. Convert runs in the browser. The director still sees the sentence and decides.
Six public English PII sets, 384,508 notes, 2.52 million labels. Convert removed every must-go identifier: 506,796 of 506,796. Age 89 and under, and sex, stay so the checker can still read the chart.
Clinic charts are a separate path: identifiers come off locally; what is stripped is not reused as a directory of patients.
